LINLEY Showcases its new 'Alba' collection at the 2019 edition of Masterpiece London.

Famed for their contemporary take on the beautiful craft of marquetry, LINLEY return to Masterpiece to showcase their latest collections of bespoke designs, introducing the 'Alba' collection. In contrast to the three pieces released at the 2018 Masterpiece show, LINLEY has opted for a softer aesthetic incorporating comfortable upholstery and delicate silhouettes, paired with the brand's unique take on marquetry design. An impressive drinks cabinet, coffee table and seating lie within a lavish Art Deco style show space. The furniture has been glazed in warm honey tones and featuring luxurious materials easily paired with a diverse style of interiors.

The drinks cabinet, coffee table, sofa and chair backs have been crafted with mango veneers, a natural toned fruitwood. Embellished with geometric patterns, the veneers morph into a straight grain, featuring ornate jasmine flowers crafted from mother of pearl. The flowers appear to 'grow' across the furniture designs as if they were they were out in nature, slowly reclaiming the object they are covering, a juxtapose with the sharper geometrics, relaxing the angular pieces and creating a fluid environment.

The centrepiece is an opulent handcrafted drinks cabinet with rotating display units that can transform the piece into a bookcase, cleverly concealing the glassware and decanters from view. The lower part of the cabinet contains pull-out preparation surfaces as well as all the bar essentials from coasters and chopping boards to olive sticks and a silver corkscrew.

Accompanying the cabinet is the two-seater sofa and matching occasional chairs, designed with smooth curves and sweeping arms, a subtle nod to the luxurious Art Deco style that many of us adore. The chairs have been upholstered in a textured bronze palette, connecting back to the colouring of the impressive marquetry design that adorns the back.

The coffee table contains built-in storage for a corkscrew, bespoke stacking coasters and stainless steel ice bucket, revealed with a twist of the table top for easy access and to expand the size of the table when needed.

A bespoke carpet, made in collaboration with Colbourns, continues the geometric theme with concentric circles phasing from dark to light inwards in the same warm tones. Above the furniture hangs a stunning handcrafted chandelier of golden leaves from The Art of Charles (La Maison Charles), made of resin on a brass framework. The stand features two bronze sculptures by artist Robert Fogell, on loan from The Nine British Art Gallery, and artwork by Jeremy Annear from Messum’s Gallery. Books displayed within the drink’s cabinet are on loan from Stephen Foster at Foster Books.

LINLEY once again showcase their incredible talents in the most luxurious way possible, introducing impressive hand-crafted techniques paired with fine luxury materials. The brand defines the very essence of Masterpiece and is always the one to watch year after year, continuously challenging perceptions of design and luxury craft.

Masterpiece is located at the Royal Chelsea Hospital in London and runs from 27th June 2019 through to 3rd July.
