Marc Ange X Sunbrella: Le Roi
Posted on April 22 2018
Sunbrella presents 'Le Roi" by Marc Ange as the designer wows the crowds with another eye-catching and engaging installation at the Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition.
Returning to Salone de Mobile for another year, Marc Ange has erased all signs of pastel pinks as he creates the showstopping 'Le Roi' installation located in the garden of the Wallpaper* Handmade exhibition. In contrast to last year's 'Le Refuge' installation that contained a series of pastel pink abstract palms around a central daybed, Ange has darkened the tone with a rich blue hue set against brass and white stone detail.
Dressed in Sunbrella's eye-catching fabrics, the conceptual artwork has been described as 'an allegory of a lost childhood' featuring the designer's brand new gold leaf 'Refuge' lamps and two 'Les Araignées' chairs. The focal point of the space is an over-sized sad teddybear with one glistening tear. The viewer is able to create their own story from the display set out in front of them with hints that the space is too small for the bear and that maybe, it is unable to wear the crown.
With the 2017 display becoming the most photographed installation of Milan's design week, Ange has followed up with another incredible and photo-friendly display that is sure to help the designer retain the 'crown' for a further year as one of the week's most popular installations along with Wallpaper* Handmade the destination to be.
